Decorating in October, 2006

My time is a little short this round, I'm sorry, but I'm going through a family crisis regarding my 91-year old mother, who lives in Tokyo, Japan. I am planning a trip to visit her in the hospital where she is recovering from hip surgery. And my able staff with stand ready to answer questions and help you any way they can while I am gone. I will be checking email regularly and will stay in touch with my staff, so I expect to continue to conduct business as usual in spite of my absence.

This issue we'll be discussing how to create distressed furniture, out of the box ideas for hanging art, how to choose toilets when you need to replace them and how to stain concrete. The toilet choice is really, really important. I've suffered many an overflow because of a poor choice. Don't go cheap on your toilet. It may come back to haunt you.

On a Personal Note

On a personal note, my 91-year-old mother, living in Tokyo, Japan, fell about a month ago and broke her hip. While she was able to tolerate the surgery, there have been a number of complications set in. I will be leaving Thursday, October 5 to visit her and will return on Thursday, October 12.

My capable staff, Eurie and Dave, will continue to manage while I'm gone and I will be in constant communication with them, as well as checking email from there. So if response time is a little delayed, please understand that we will still do our very best to meet your needs.
